Silver belt | Inauguration of the new skate park
The Apache Tribal Council of San Carlos and the Committee of the Apache Sports Complex in San Carlos jointly inaugurated the first phase of the project, a skate park. The skate park will be followed by a small league field, basketball courts, a ploughsharecer grounds, an upgraded fitness center, volleyball courts, jungle gyms for small children, and picnic tables for families. Speakers pointed out that this would now be a good place to go. Master of Ceremonies, Dr Timothy Johnson started things off by introducing Pastor John Pechuli, who delivered an opening prayer. The San Carlos Apache Veterans Association flaunted the colors while Krista Ramos sang the national anthem.
President Terry Rambler and Vice President Tao Etpison added their encouraging speeches. Bernadette Kniffin, Director of TANF, announced that TANF workers would contribute to the project while learning marketable skills. Professional skateboarder and filmmaker Douglas Miles Jr. spoke on behalf of the sports complex committee. Simon Hooke and Barbara May spoke on behalf of the board and the last speaker, Aaron Spohn, from the company that built the project, shared that he was an old man.
